Community Coach / Direct Support Professional (DSP)

Community Coaches support individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities as they participate in community activities, develop life skills, and work toward their personal goals.

Responsibilities may include:

• Supporting individuals during community activities
• Assisting individuals with developing social and life skills
• Encouraging independence and confidence
• Providing person-centered support aligned with the Individual Support Plan (ISP)
• Documenting services and progress notes as required

We are looking for individuals who:

• Are compassionate and patient
• Enjoy working with people
• Are dependable and responsible
• Have strong communication skills
• Are comfortable supporting individuals in community settings

Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is helpful but not always required.

Basic Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a background check
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Internship Program

Build Experience. Make an Impact.

The I am Me Services Internship Program provides students with an opportunity to gain meaningful, real-world experience within a community-based organization serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Interns can gain professional experience while learning about IDD services, community-based supports, organizational operations, and the work that supports quality, person-centered services.

Internship Opportunities:

Internship experiences may be available in areas such as:

Human Services & IDD Services
Gain exposure to person-centered practices, community-based services, program development, documentation, advocacy, and resources that support adults with IDD.

Healthcare Administration & Operations
Gain experience with program operations, quality improvement, compliance, administrative systems, and organizational development within a community-based human services organization.

Business Administration & Organizational Development
Explore business operations, human resources, recruitment, project development, process improvement, and organizational growth.

Marketing, Communications & Community Outreach
Gain experience with community outreach, marketing, communications, social media, events, resource development, and community partnerships.

Who Should Apply?

Students pursuing degrees in Human Services, Psychology, Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Management, Marketing, Communications, and related fields are encouraged to apply.
